NOTICE FROM FEMCAT

Special meeting of the FemCAT Board of Trustees held on October 2, 2017

It is with great astonishment and outrage that we’ve watched the acts of oppression that have occurred in our country. We condemn any and all forms of violence. Exercising our freedom of speech and democracy is not a threat but a necessity, especially in diverse, open and plural societies such as Catalonia.

We’re living in extraordinary times, which must not be neglected due to day-to-day emergencies. We believe that all actions must be based on dialogue and allow individual and collective freedoms to be exercised. We, therefore, second the decision made by the Taula per la Democràcia [Table for Democracy] as regards the strike planned for tomorrow.

The world is watching us and sees an intersecting, civic and strong-willed movement. Every action we take must be held up to the highest standards of international democracy and transparency. We support initiatives that demand international mediation and dialogue.
