The World that is coming: Business, Employement and Immigration

2nd edition (2008): The world that is coming: Business, Employment, and Immigration
The second FemCAT Forum focused on the always current topic of employment, with special emphasis on immigration. In 2008, 15% of the Catalan population was foreign-born (one million people), while in 2000 the figure was 2%.
Immigration, as a present and future phenomenon related to the economy and social cohesion, forms a part of the challenges related to employment and a country’s economy.
Treated from the business perspective, immigration was analyzed as a social, economic and business phenomenon, addressing both cyclical and structural aspects. Participating speakers: Manuel Pimentel, founder of Almuzara Publishing Group and former Minister of Labor and Social Affairs; Montserrat Guibernau, Professor, Department of Political Science at Queen Mary University of London; and Jordi Pujol, former President of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
